A great smile can boost a person’s self-esteem. Correcting crowded and misaligned teeth can give a person new-found confidence. As a person’s teeth, jaws and lips become properly aligned a deep self-assurance can often emerge. Straightening teeth doesn’t just create an attractive smile however. Alleviating or preventing physical health problems is just as important. “Without treatment, orthodontic problems may lead to tooth decay, gum disease, bone destruction and chewing and digestive difficulties. A “bad bite” can contribute to speech impairments, tooth loss, chipped teeth and other dental injuries”1. The position and balance of our teeth is critical to having a beautiful, functional smile.

At Southport Dental Care, we use Invisalign® clear aligners to help you achieve your smile goals. We also establish a tooth relationship that allows you to keep your smile well into the future. The process of using aligners to straighten teeth is well established. Your Invisalign® clear aligners are custom-made for you. The aligners are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time. When you change to the next set of aligners (typically every week) your teeth gradually move into position, following a custom treatment plan mapped out by your doctor.2 Invisalign® aligners can be removed while eating and drinking and during daily hygiene care. For best results they ideally need to be worn at least 22 hours a day. Our patients find Invisalign® aligners to be comfortable and efficient in achieving their desired results. Treatment times vary depending on the complexity of a person’s specific needs but cases can be completed as quickly as 6 months.
